Lack of education and obsession with religion makes one ruthless and cruel as is the case with Mr. Badesha. it is clear that having a flowing beard does not make a true sikh ,simply because it is natural mean to guise someones true image. The showing of Mr. Badesha in front of his Gurudwara is true example how a dispicable creature can take shield of religion and hide his true entity of murderer. Sikh and Gurudwara only means peace and love. History tells that even Mugals who played with sentiments of sikhism vanished long time back, so Badesha will too pay for murdering and hiding behind the shield of calling himself a Sikh. Justice shall prevail for Jassi and Mithu.

Is the Canadian government really so cowardly that we would let a corrupt regime like India take out our garbage for us? Given what we now know, does anybody really think Jassi's family will see justice in a country where justice is bought and sold? Her husband spent four years in jail, falsely accused of rape by his wife's killer, while he vacationed with her family in B.C. We don't need to extradite these people. We need to give them a fair Canadian trial, and then they need to spend the rest of their lives in a Canadian Jail! Not an Indian villa!

Bless her. She followed her heart. Everyone should have the freedom to live their lives and marry the person of there choice. She surely found her love and soul mate. To take a person's life for this and destory his. They should have been jailed years ago. And what does this say for the mounted police? Are we a country that harbours such evil people. 11 years, someone should be accountable for the injustice of ignorance and letting the mother and Uncle live here and escape the responsiblity for their actions.

I've grown up with the harbinger of Jassi's death on my mind. May her soul rest in peace and may her murderers be brought to justice. Through her loss may we realise that patriarchy and violence against women is not a specific 'cultural' issue but a transnational issue. The punjabi community specifically needs to work on open and loving communication between parents and children and nurture an environment where young women can feel safe in living the lives they choose. RIP Jassi.
