When will people learn the true meaning behind faith and religion? by Nieha K

As we sit here, nod our heads and continue living our lives, justice does not get served. As years go on, the level of safety I feel living in Canada has significantly decreased. Aside from that issue, here is a family that has obviously murdered their daughter and our legal system is still waiting for what? Will Canada have to become a dark version of what India is, where justice is only for the rich and powerful, for some action to take place? When will the Canadian government realize that by funding religious institutions they are only creating more of a segregration line between various faiths because the institutions tend to be led by extremists of the faith and that doesn’t help anyone and in this case it did not help Jassi. If people were to be fearful of their concequences, perhaps such attrocities would not occur, however Canada’s sentencing serves no point, it is a hollow system in need of harsh sentences. Jassi’s parents should be sentenced to life in prison with all the evidence that has been put forth till now, what else is being waited for?

May 15, 2012, Sandra Tlilayatzi, Germany
It is a tragedy that someone as wonderful and beautiful as Jassi has not received justice. Her mother and her uncle are fiends and they need to brought justice. She was a young, intelligent woman who deserved better, I hope that Canada a country which is SUPPOSE to have a reputacion for being a just country will finally do something about it. Bless you Jassi, where ever you are.

I hate the word honor killing, as if it is to justify. It is simply murder.

Why did it take so long to arrest the mother and uncle in this case? Are they even in jail or were they let out on bail immediately?

How can a mother do that to her own daughter? It's revolting, justice will be served!

I can't believe that we are in the 21st Century with other countries being barbaric & inhumaine , they treat humans like cattle, predators & possessions. Everyonel on this planet has a right to choice and when we are killed for our choices, then the justice system that allows this has failed and needs to be changed immediately.

it's about time that there is an arrest in this matter. I believe however that the police have missed one person...Her dad!!!! I have watched this case unfold and cold mostly cold for many years only to be frustrated w/ knowing the fact that if money and corruption wasn't invoved then people would be in jail as we speak.

Please put a stop to the honor killings! They are inhumane!
April 07, 2012, maninder singh, United States
Just to help understand it the motives and prejudices behind this murder are the same which got folks killed when a black man and a white woman dared to fall in love with each other in deep South not too long ago. But this coming from the people in whose holy book the concept of universal love and brotherhood is espoused and every other page is very very sad. This shows we still have to work on eradicating this disease.

When I noticed the movie "Murder Unveiled" on the television tonight, I realized it was a reenactment of the murder conspiracy that occurred in my own hometown, so many years ago. I cannot believe it has taken until now to seek extradition for Jassi's mother and uncle. And I read it could take another 10 years for extradition to actually take place (if it ever does) . Jassi and all women who are victims of violent crimes deserve so much better! I can't help but remember you, Jassi, as I drive by the blueberry farms owned by your family.

This type of crime must be stopped and the traditions behind it brought into line.

A mother is not worth of bearing that name. I wish her the worst for the rest of her life and to die from a long disease and the same for her brother-in-law. I can't phantom how low some people can stoop for supposedly so-called honor.
