I came across the story of Jassi and Mithu when doing research on honour killings for an essay. Coming from an Indian background with strict morals I am totally for justice for women who face things like this and this is a topic which means a lot to me. I hope Jassi and Mithu get the justice they rightfully deserve.

It is shame to the person/family responsible for such a horrible murder/crime. There is no forgivness in GOD,s kingdom for those responsible. shame on you

this is total injustice for her as a canadian citizen, who had no justice for her killling. she was educated and i see it has utterly wrong to marry a person whos in his 60s. this typical mother and uncle should have supported her not to go against her wishes.

It is upsetting that it has taken so long for the Canadian justice system to react and make the arrests. But now it is known that the RCMP are looking to extradite Jassi’s mom and uncle. Well, if and when the extradition happens, then what? Justice will only be served when the Indian government steps up to punish these perpetrators. How many women must die before the Canadian government starts recognizing honor based violence? We should aim to put a stop to honor based violence by recognizing and identifying the needs of these victims before its too late!

It's really sad to have your life taken away soon! Is this what u call true love her mom and uncle deserve life in prison perhaps the death penalty they should pay the ultimate price not jassi!

This is so disgusting i hope this comes to an end !
March 24, 2012, Gurj Kandola, United Kingdom
I truly hope that justice is served and all those that were involved in jassi's murder are punished accordinlgy its unbearable to imagine what this poor girl went through in the final moments of her life and for it to have been done at the hands of the people who above all should have protected her is despicable! Such a beautiful woman with her whole life ahead of her and killed for exactly what? For loving someone who she felt was her soulmate. Jassi my sister wherever you are i hope you are at peace and that god is looking after u. My thoughts are with you and i hope that after all these years justice is finally served.

I am in shock and horror to learn about Jassi's wrongful and brutal death, and Mithu's sufferings as well. Jassi indeed had courage to follow her heart. I am very happy to learn that her mother and uncle have finally been charged. It was so wrong what they did, to say the least.

This made me feel so sick ! I dont understand how a mother could plan a murder just because her daughter married someone of her own choice that she would have been happy living with than marrying the 60 year old they found her. I dont understand how people can be so cruel and live with things like this .. Just so nasty, This has to stop !
March 22, 2012, Jiwan Jyoti, New Zealand
This is a very hearbreaking story. This always happens because of the ego and pride the elders have in them, all people care about is thier family rep not about what their daughter wants and its not fair on her because she did nothing wrong but love someone and he is not even of a different religion or anything and this has to come to an end !
March 22, 2012, Greety George, New Zealand
this is horrible
March 22, 2012, Ashley Narayan, New Zealand
Tragic story, very heartbreaking to know that your own family can do this to you because because of their 'honour'. Just disgusting and hope enough people will become aware of this to put a stop to it.
March 21, 2012, Kim Mann, Canada
Is it better that she is dead or that she married a man that she loved? Love is not a crime.

Agggghhhhh this makes me so mad! How can a mother kill her own daughter? They thought their daughter by marrying a man of her choice brought shame to the family? NO! what brought shame to the family was killing her so brutally. Jassi and Mithu both deserve justice and the RCMP better effin do something about it.
March 19, 2012, Jai Birdi, Canada
Very tragic - hoping Jassi and Mithu will get the justice they deserve. When we refect on days such as the International Day for Women or the International Day for the Elimination of Racism and Castism, it seems that we still have along way to achieve a just society.
March 18, 2012, Ravi Ghuman, Canada
this was a tragedy that never should have occured, i hope her mom and uncle get what they deserve if they are extradited to india

I strongly support this cause. It is frustrating to see how depraved people continue to remain free....I hope that justice will be served and healing can begin for Mithu and all victims who have suffered from Jassi's death.
March 09, 2012, pamela A. Hansen, United States
A death penalty would be too easy for them, kept in a small cage for life would be much better as they are left to deal with what they did to this beautiful young woman who's only crime was to fall in love with a man who loved her as well.
March 09, 2012, Roger L. Hansen, United States
This is more than just a crime! This is cold blooded murder where the ones responsible need to be punished.
March 09, 2012, Stuart Pearce, Canada
How anybody can kill their own, and reffer to it as honerable, is beyond belief!!!
