Shame shame RCMP & Canada! How much respect can you have in a system that won't stand up for its citizens? "Always get their man"? Not any more-this is injustice in its most absolute form. "Ongoing investigation?" Going on to where? Archived, forgotten? Is Jassi's family waiting for this to blow over?RCMP hoping for the same? Thanks 5th Estate for keeping this story alive; I won't forget Jassi.

Hello, I am Indo-Canadian, and I think you should give the RCMP a little more credit. This case has a lot of issues here for the RCMP to consider and to sort out. For CBC to air "Murder Unveiled" is reason enough to believe that Canadians are taking this matter very seriously. Give it some time, and I'm sure the RCMP will do whatever it can legally do to solve this matter while always maintaining political correctness and integrity.

You're so stupid. The RCMP are deliberately stalling, hoping interest in the case will go away. The ONLY way they will do anything is by increasing pressure on them via publicity.

I can not understand why her mom and uncle are still free....Because it happened in India - is that why the Cdn goverment is not doing anything for Jassi? She was a young innocent girl.. her mother is not a mother, she is an evil person, who will go to hell, they think they are true sikhs. In the guru granth shaib, it states all people are equal, no colour no caste, so you kill your daughter for your repuation, what are people going to say if she marries a poor man..
Jassi's parents - I don't know how anyone can live near you or see you..

I think this is horrific. How many more young ladies have to fear when they go back to their home land. The two ladies in question were from Winnipeg. And went to India with their husbands. When is this all going to end. The government needs to do something.

My name is Jasdeep and I am 14 yrs old. I live in Ontario Canada. I think you should keep this case alive because Jassi was a Canadian citizen, Canada is a place for freedom and Canada's duty is to save and protect its citizens. Jassi went to India, got murdered by assasins which were forced to do so by her own family. They murdered their niece/daughter by calling them and telling we will pay 50 grand. I think they should all be sentenced to life in prison.

I also watched 5th Estate tonight, and was absolutely appalled with the seeming lack of concern and action with both our Canadian government and the RCMP. Don't you think that 147 calls (if Telus records are correct) from "Uncle" Surjit Badesha's residence to the men in India who were found responsible for Jassi's brutal murder, just a wee bit fishy?? Come on Canada, it's due time for some justice to be granted here. Extradite both Malkial Kaur an Surjit Singh Badesha to Indian to answer for charges of conspiracy to commit murder. Don't let wealth, community standing, or cultural differences stand in the way of doing what's right. Justice for Jassi is still alive, and waiting to be served.

is Jassi's uncle also paying the RCMP to for get about this case?If not it sure seems like it.Im also certain that if this crime did'nt happen in a third-world country then justice would have been served a long time ago.It seems like the 5th Estate is putting mor investigation into this than our own Canadian RCMP.
I think that Jassi's family is waiting for this to just go away,but I think that they as well as Jassi are going to have whats been awaiting them for 6 years:Justice.

I'm so disgusted to think that two parents could have so much pride in them selves to not see there daughter for who she was.An indivudual living in Canada were she has freedom of speech and rights to make her own choices in life her life. If immagrants want to come to our country that is fine but except our ways and rules. People of today should have evolved enough to realize that our children are not our property they are only our responsiblity to care for and teach them right from wrong.Not to enforce apon them what you want for them. It is disguesting to think a mother could do this to her own child. Some woman and men should not be allowed to have children. It should be like every thing else in this world pass a test first. These people deserve to be executed for what they did they should suffer as did she. The RCMP should get off their asses and start doing their job. Her parents are guilty and deserve to pay the price as they said Jassi had to. What has our legal system come down to? You have to admitt to being guilty to be punished for your crimes? Everything points to the parents but is Canada affraid of causing an up roar or something. Would it be bad for buisness to call the kettle black.It all must come down to money and politics.This Country is starting to be more and more like the United States and it sucks.II'm proud to be a Canadian but at times like this I wonder!

All I want to say this type of behaviour is not a immigrant behaviour but more of people who are extremely disturbed. Please don't judge immigrants, even your ancestors were once immigrants(unless of course you are of aboriginal descent). Otherwise I agree with other issues you brought up about people should really think about having children, etc...

I think you are right on the money. Uptil now I thought that Canada is the best country in the world, just, fair, equal rights for rich and poor. But now I wonder if it is same as USA, rich people can buy better justice here in USA. I believe Jassi's mother and uncle are still free because of thier wealth and influence in the community.

I completly agree with you Denise.
I am of punjabi decent, but was born and raised in Canada.
My paretns came here over 30 years ago, and have adapted to the ways of life here. We still have our religion and culture, and it will always be with us, but some things that our culture accepts, makes me ashamed to say I am of indian decent.

Things need to change, there is an increase of opression and killings of young indian women who simply speak up and stand up for themselves.
They do not want to be victimized any longer, and they end up loosing their lives for it.

Respect for our elders is one thing, but being suppressed by them is another.
I hope enough people speak against this that the RCMP takes some action.
Jassi and all the other young indian women who get killed like this deserve better!

what has happened to this couple is awful, im absolutely appalled myself being from the punjabi sikh community. thank you to 5th estate for keeping her memory alive, i hope the uncle and mother are put responsible for their actions.
what i dont understand, is how the sikh community still see the uncle as influential and an elder when it is obvious what he has done.
i hope the movie will be available here in denmark or online, as im very interested in watching it.
i think what was worse, and confirmed the india police suspicion, was that jassis own family didnt even care to claim her body - isnt that proof enough?

As if the RCMP's bungling of the Air India investigation was not enough, the Jassi Sidhu case simply highlights the utter incompetence and cavalier nature of our 'proud' RCMP in going about their business.

Why did it take the RCMP several months to figure out that they do indeed have a case for investigating Jassi's mother and uncle? And why is the investigation taking more than 5 years? Don't 140 phone calls from Jassi's uncle to the (now convicted) perpetrators of the murder have any significance? Du'h?

The more important question is - what message will this send to consirators of crimes that are perpetrated on our citizens outside our borders? That they can go about their business as they please, because the law won't stop them?

I thank CBC Television for being so dogged in their pursuit of their story and justice for Jassi.

For what is is worth, I am originally from India and became a proud Canadian citizen last year.

But I am NOT proud of Canadian justice.

Mithu is alive and now languishing in jail in India on what are obviously trumped up charges.

For his sake, let justice prevail in Canada. Then the Indian authorties might take notice and set Mithu free.

My heart goes out to Mithu. He has had a triple whammy of injustice:
1. Arrested and beaten by the Indian police like many other innocent youths during their infamous 'anti-terrorist' campaign,
2. The murder of beloved Jassi, and
3. (Obviously) framed and jailed on a rape charge.

I feel so strongly about this case that the next time I'm in India I want to go to Punjab and see if anything can be done for his welfare. If anything, I would like get his slate cleaned regarding his former arrests on suspicion of terrorism, so that he can one day come to Canada!

What is the RCMP waiting for? For the mother and uncle to order more murders. Where is the justice for our Canadian Citizens and Residents? I've been to Ludhiana, Punjab, India and I know of it's corruption. If you have money, you can find anyone to do what you want, including the law.

RCMP people will no longer link you to justice, you need to get this case cracking and make sure the culprits to her murder are brought to justice. Jassi was a Canadian citizen and she deserves this, I can asssure you her soul won't rest at peace until her murderers are sentenced. It's not only unfair, but wrong for RCMP and Canada not to do anything about this. This should not blow over, if the Indian government can bring the culprits in India to justice, I feel the Canadian government should be able to do the same. The mother and uncle need to be sentenced, therefore no other mother or guardian would even think of doing something like this to their children. I feel that the RCMP is not doing their job, even though they say it's an ongoing investigation. How much more evidence do you need? I wonder if it would have been different if was a white canadian citizen being killed and not a sikh canadian citizen. I am possitive if this would have happened to an American citizen, this case would not be pending, but it would be solved. A PERSON SHOULD BE PUNISHED FOR THEIR WRONG DOING!

it is a horrible incident. This incident not just makes me cry but scares me as well. It shows that despite being a Canadian citizen we got no freedom that our fellow canadians do. I belong to this type of family as well so that means I should never even dare to think about love marriage becasue it means death to me. If Canadian Goverment cant help us is such situation that whats the point of having canadian nationality. Why should I be proud to be a Canadian while I am not treated as a Canadian citizen.

I think the RCMP should get to work, and convict and sentence the uncle and mother of Jassi. This was a very tragic situation, and the people who helped with this murder should be punished and sentenced to life in prison. End of story, this is Canada-not corrupt India.

I just watched Murder Unveiled, and it seems absolutely ridiculous to me as to why the RCMP hasn't arrested Jassi's mom and uncle. Despite the fact that all the evidence clearly points towards both of them; they continue to live freely. Jassi's decision to marry that guy was maybe "wrong" according to her parents, but killing her shouldn't have been the ultimate consequence of her actions. I truly believe that they should be punished; however, the outcome of this case thus far unfortunately makes me lose my faith in the Canadian Justice System.

I always assumed Canadian police to be extremely efficient but reality points in the opposite direction.
It is appalling firstly that parents could kill their own children. I do believe each one of us has to serve in another world after leaving this one. Jassi's parents surely dont stand a chance in hell. For what they've done, even hell will be a dignified place for them.
If the Indian police believes it's the parents, why is the RCMP not taking any action? So many years after the murder, and yet no conclusion.... seems rather impossible. It's rather ironical that the Indian community in two nations - Canada and India - knows that it's the parents except RCMP. Is justice a word still used or is it obsolete? What's the present meaning of justice? Is it ignoring facts and letting the murderers lead a normal life? Kudos RCMP and the Canadian Justice System! Kudos!

I think both W5 and the CBC should be applauded for keeping this terrible and tragic story alive. The RCMP should start explaining to the Canadian public why Jassi's mother and uncle are still roaming the streets of BC, without charges being laid, after what appears to be strong prima facie evidence of culpability in first degree murder.
